To address patterns of abuse or misuse of New York State (NYS) Medicaid services, the Recipient Restriction Program (RRP) has been introduced as a comprehensive medical review and administrative mechanism. Administered by the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) in collaboration with local Departments of Social Services (LDSS), the RRP allows Medicaid members with demonstrated misuse tendencies to be restricted to a specific healthcare provider or pharmacy for coordinated services.
