As of May 1, 2024, EmblemHealth is making a significant change in its preauthorization process by discontinuing the acceptance of faxes for preauthorization requests and concurrent reviews. This move aims to streamline and modernize the process, providing an easier and faster way for healthcare providers to submit documentation.
The fax lines for preauthorization requests and concurrent reviews will be disconnected, and providers are encouraged to utilize EmblemHealth’s provider portals for submitting requests and supporting documentation. This transition is part of EmblemHealth’s ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and improve communication with healthcare providers.
With the provider portal, healthcare providers can conveniently submit requests, notifications, and supporting clinical information online. The process is simple and user-friendly, requiring just a few clicks to forward the necessary documentation. Providers can upload up to five files, each with a maximum size of 25MB, as part of their initial preauthorization request. They can also return to the same request after submission to upload additional files.
