In alignment with the CMS National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage does not allow separate reimbursement for anesthetic agents (Lidocaine, Marcaine, Bupivacaine, etc.) in an office-based (POS 11) setting. Per the NCCI manual, these services are integral and not separately reimbursable from the main procedure.
