Empire Changes Its Mother Company’s Name

Effective June 28, 2022, the mother company of Empire BCBS will be changed from Anthem Inc. to Elevance Health as approved by the vote of shareholders. 

Here are the additional changes you are expected to see:

• A bold new vision for the future of health. Their new vision is to elevate the importance of whole health and advance health in addition to healthcare for consumers and shared communities. This vision will help them to become an all-around health company from a traditional health benefits organization. 
• There is no impact or changes to the level of support, contract or reimbursement they provide. Moreover, patients’ coverage and current plan will not change. Provider networks will also remain the same. 
• You will see a more holistic approach to health. This will bring a broader portfolio of health plans including clinical, behavioral, complex care provider partners as well as pharmacy. In this regard two notable changes are as follows:

Their healthcare service partners will operate under a new brand called Carelon.
