A thank you to healthcare workers

We are happy to share the good news with you. NYS Executive Budget Legislation issued $1,2 billion in funding for premium payments, which will be received by certain healthcare workers from the front line. Located within Part ZZ of Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2022, the HWB provision aloud for the payment of bonuses to “recruit, retain, and reward health care and mental hygiene workers,” meeting specified eligibility requirements.

New York is implementing a medical staff retention program that provides lump sum payments of up to $3,000 to certain healthcare workers who have been working for a minimum of six months. These payments will cover two functions. On the one side, it is an acknowledgment to specialists. On the other – an attempt to prevent a shortage of healthcare workers that has been worsened during the pandemic.
