Physician Office Lab (Empire BlueCross BlueShield) 

According to Empire’s Physician Office Laboratory Listing, physicians can perform select laboratory services in their offices. The Physician Office Laboratory List is continuously reviewed to ensure the relevance of providing services in physicians’ offices.

Effective February 1, 2023, this list will be updated.  

If the services are not included in The Physician Office Laboratory List, Empire members must be referred to a participating laboratory. Otherwise, they will be denied, and members cannot be balance billed.
