Which telehealth services will Medicare cover after the PHE?

Please refer to the list of telehealth services to determine which services will be covered by Medicare this year, including those with audio-only exceptions. 

Medicare will provide ample notice before any changes are made to the list, and updates to the telehealth list will be addressed through the CY Medicare physician fee schedule, as stated on the telehealth webpage. 

Although Medicare will continue to cover telehealth services, and many flexibilities will remain until 2024, the HIPAA enforcement discretion will expire on May 11. During the PHE, the HHS Office for Civil Rights (OCR) allowed providers to use some communication technology that is not HIPAA-compliant. If your practice is not using a secure system when the PHE ends, telehealth services will need to be put on hold.
