Shifting Strategies Lead to Discontinuation of Small Business Insurance Offering
Oscar Health and Cigna announced the closure of their co-branded small business insurance venture, Cigna + Oscar. The program, launched in 2020, will cease operations at the end of 2024.
This decision comes after a strategic shift for Oscar Health, with CEO Mark Bertolini citing a focus on the individual market as a key factor. In a call with investors, Mr. Bertolini acknowledged the effort put into making Cigna + Oscar profitable but concluded that “ICHRA is the solution for small group and middle market.”
