New Federal Training Requirements for DEA-Registered Healthcare Practitioners

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has implemented new mandatory training requirements that affect all registered healthcare practitioners across the United States. These requirements represent a significant shift in federal oversight of opioid prescribing practices.

What’s Required

Healthcare professionals holding a DEA registration must now complete a comprehensive 8-hour training program focused on the treatment and management of patients with opioid and other substance use disorders. This is a one-time federal requirement that cannot be overlooked.
