UHC: a new reimbursement policy comes into effect soon

Beginning March 1, 2022, UnitedHealthcare commercial and Individual Exchange plans will only cover the following vitamin D screening procedures:

• CPT 82306 – vitamin D blood test (25 hydroxy)

• CPT 82652 – vitamin D blood test (25 dihydroxy)

• CPT 0038U – vitamin D blood test (25 hydroxy D2 and D3, by LC-MS/MS, serum microsample)

This new policy is applicable to services performed both in-network and out-of-network.
