HIPAA requirements: what has changed in 2022

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 has served as a true guardian of protected health information (PHI) for over 25 years. Since the day it was enacted, numerous amendments and opportunistic regulations have been put in place. Despite the fact that no significant changes have been put in place since 2013 onward, there are still some important aspects to observe in 2022. During the last several years, legislators have focused their efforts on improving the safety of information related to mental health and substance abuse issues.
