The 2022 COVID-19 testing cheat sheet

January 3, 2022, marked a two-year “anniversary” of the first COVID-19 case identified in the United States.

Back in 2020, little did we know that this pandemic would cost over nine hundred thousand death all over the country. While the scientists come up with positive prognoses about a soon end of this pandemic, and local governments are easing the old restrictions, thousands of people still contract the virus every day. On February 15 alone, 116,000 new cases were identified in the US according to the New York Times. With that in mind, COVID-19 testing is still in extremely high demand.
While many people prefer using so-called over-the-counter test kits to determine whether they are “positive” or not, you can still render the COVID-19 test at your outpatient office. In the recent weeks, we have received over two dozen requests from our readers asking us to write an all-encompassing guide on how to bill outpatient COVID-19 tests and how much the payments would be. Here at WCH Service Bureau, we have always strived to keep our clients informed on the most significant aspects of healthcare reimbursement. More importantly, we have never hesitated to share our knowledge and experience to help our clients grow their businesses. For these two reasons, we have decided to conduct sophisticated research on the issue and publish our findings here. Below is everything you need to know on COVID-19 testing reporting. This research has been conducted, analyzed & summarized by Julie Markova, CMCS, our Billing Department account representative.
