Another unique and complex surgery was performed in Ukraine. Surgeons extracted an active grenade launcher shell from a soldier’s body. They were assisted by military sappers, as it was the only way to ensure the safety of medical personnel.  

A wounded soldier was brought to a Ukrainian front-line hospital in early January. The wound was very close to his heart, and his condition was serious. However, the seriousness of this wound became clear only after X-rays. The soldier had an unexploded grenade launcher shell in his body. This required an urgent operation. Such a situation threatened the life of both the patient and the doctor. But there was no other way out.
