The successful integration of digital solutions across healthcare in the European Union (EU) requires the involvement of nurses. In the context of the European Health Data Space, nurses play a vital role in building interoperable infrastructures that support frontline care and reduce workloads. Trust will be an essential element in the digitization of healthcare, and nurses need to be involved in the design and deployment of the European Health Data Space to ensure the optimal use of each aspect, including prioritization, scoping, and timing of new obligations and technical operationalization. To improve the data structure and ensure standardized access and sharing of patient information, nurses must actively engage in co-creating processes to meet end-user requirements.
