Greek Innovation Transforms Patient-Doctor Interaction: MyPal Project’s Digital Breakthrough

Pantelis Natsiavas, a driving force behind the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas’ MyPal project, expresses unwavering confidence in the project’s digital tools to revolutionize future health services. This pioneering Greek initiative has the potential to reshape doctor-patient dynamics through digital platforms, elevating cancer patient care quality.

MyPal, an app developed by the project, empowers patients to remotely engage with physicians, educate themselves about their condition, provide real-time health updates, and complete questionnaires. Clinical trials involving 200 cancer patients from five EU countries over two years demonstrated the app’s personalized care capabilities. It offers doctors a comprehensive patient health overview before in-person consultations, enhancing discussions.

Dr. Thomas Chatzikonstantinou, a cancer specialist at G. Papanikolaou General Hospital, experienced the app’s benefits firsthand. Detecting patient issues pre-appointment improved discussions. MyPal isn’t just a communication tool; it accumulates data, acting as a memory bank and providing swift health status summaries. It addresses geographical disparities, especially in aiding patients in remote areas.
