Medicare Expands Coverage for Lymphedema Compression Treatment: What You Need to Know 

In a significant development set to take effect from January 1, 2024, Medicare has announced an expansion of coverage to include lymphedema compression treatment items for Medicare Part B patients. This move is poised to bring relief to individuals grappling with lymphedema, a chronic condition characterized by swelling in the body’s tissues. 

Covered Treatment Items: 

Medicare will now provide coverage for both standard and custom-fitted lymphedema compression treatment items, encompassing a range of products tailored for specific affected body parts. It includes compression garments designed for daytime and nighttime use, compression bandaging systems, gradient compression wraps with adjustable straps, and essential accessories such as aids for donning and doffing, fillers, lining, padding, and zippers.
