Anthem Announces New Credentialing and Recredentialing Requirements for DME Providers

As of January 1, 2024, Empire has transitioned to Anthem, bringing with it a new set of requirements for credentialing and recredentialing. This update affects providers across Commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare Advantage plans previously under Empire.

The National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) has advised that Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers should be included within the scope of an entity’s credentialing program for accreditation purposes. In line with this guidance, Anthem will begin recredentialing the existing Durable Medical Equipment Providers and Prosthetic and Orthotic Suppliers (DMEPOS) network starting February 2024.
