In this exclusive interview, we had the privilege of speaking with Garegin Sardaryan, a dedicated scientist and innovator behind the groundbreaking preparation, Gesavit. As a driving force in the development and advancement of this unique substance, Garen has been instrumental in navigating its journey from concept to market. Our conversation delves into the origins of Gesavit, its transformative potential, and the personal commitment that fuels Garen’s mission. Join us as we explore the story behind Gesavit and the future it promises for the medical field.
Tell us about the creation of Gesavit.
My father, Eduard Sardaryan, was born in 1939 in Yerevan, Armenia, during the tumultuous years of World War II. Despite the hardships of war and scarcity, he excelled academically and pursued a degree in biology. Inspired by the pioneering work of Louis Pasteur, he devoted his life to scientific research.
In the 1970s, during a routine soil screening near Mount Ararat, Eduard made a groundbreaking discovery: a unique microorganism. This microorganism became the foundation for Gesavit. The following years were dedicated to extensive research on the organism’s properties, including its physical and chemical composition and biological functions.
However, the late 1980s brought significant challenges to Armenia, including a devastating earthquake, the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and the Nagorno-Karabakh War. These events plunged the country into an economic crisis, making scientific research nearly impossible. Despite these adversities, Eduard’s dedication to science remained unwavering.
