Medicare has announced procedure codes for the pneumococcal vaccine

The CMS has recently updated its provider fee schedule, specifying the CPT codes for some covered vaccine administration services. Read along to find how to bill a new pneumococcal vaccine in 2022.


The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has decided to maintain its reimbursement and coding policy related to pneumococcal vaccine billing in 2022. Namely, the following CPT codes can now be used to report an administration of this service:
• 90671 – Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, 15 valent (PCV15), for intramuscular use• 90677 – Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine, 20 valent (PCV20), for intramuscular use
