New procedure code for EVUSHELD

On February 24, the FDA revised the emergency use authorization for tixagevimab co-packaged with cilgavimab (EVUSHELD™) to change the initial dose for the authorized use as pre-exposure prophylaxis of COVID-19 in certain adults and pediatric patients.

Healthcare providers may use the HCPCS code Q0221 (Tixagev and cilgav, 600mg) to report this medication on claims. At the same time, the following administration codes must be used in conjunction with this service:

• M0220 – administration in a health care setting

• M0221 – administration in a home care setting
