Help Address Heart Disease Disparities: Promoting Prevention and Care Management 

As we observe American Heart Month and Black History Month, it is crucial to shine a light on the disparities in heart disease prevalence among different racial and ethnic groups, particularly within the Black or African American community. According to recent data, individuals from this demographic, enrolled in Fee-for-Service Medicare, exhibit the highest prevalence of hypertension compared to other racial and ethnic groups. 

Heart disease remains a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in the United States, and addressing disparities in its prevalence and management is paramount to improving public health outcomes. In light of these statistics, it is imperative to underscore the importance of prevention and care management strategies in combating health disparities.
