Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, a leading healthcare provider, is addressing the aftermath of a cyber security incident affecting Change Healthcare, a pivotal player in connecting payers, providers, and patients within the U.S. healthcare system. On February 21, 2024, Change Healthcare fell victim to a cyberattack, causing disruptions across its operations and impacting numerous companies nationwide, including Horizon. While this incident is not directly attributed to Horizon, precautionary measures were taken promptly to safeguard its systems, which were disconnected from Change Healthcare upon detection of the attack.
