New Medicare Policy Update: Extended Letter of Authorization PIN Expiration

In response to valuable user feedback, Medicare has announced an extension to the expiration period of Letter of Authorization (LOA) PINs, effective from April 11, 2024, after 5 p.m. ET. This update aims to enhance convenience and flexibility for providers and billing services by extending the validity period of LOA PINs and removing limitations on their usage.

Here’s what you need to know about the latest changes:

Extended Validity Period: Previously, LOA PINs had a limited validity period, often causing inconvenience for users. Now, LOA PINs will be valid for a generous duration of 30 days from the date of issuance. This extended validity period allows users ample time to complete necessary processes without the pressure of looming expiration dates.
